Snow
The last kiss
He left upon my lips
Was soft and gentle
And his parting words;
The soft ones of a lover
Unscorned.
I love you.
Down and down the steps
Round and round the marbled walls, like water in a drain
And then outside,
Through the door
All blocked and bolted,
To burst out into the day
-Mercilessly turned to winter.
The frigid air
Smacked against the tears
Streaked on my freckled face.
Hitting me with the cold,
clear scent of
snow.
